What is a gifted assessment?
A gifted assessment is used to determine if an individual meets the criteria for identification as gifted.
Gifted assessments at Red Oak
The goal of a gifted assessment is to determine whether your child meets the criteria for identification as a gifted student. We typically only recommend a gifted assessment if a diagnosis of gifted is required for entry to certain schools or programs.
Our gifted assessment process
1. Testing – A psychologist administers standardized tests (e.g., WISC-V) to evaluate intellectual functioning, including verbal skills, visual-spatial skills, reasoning, working memory, and processing speed.
2. Feedback session – Once testing is complete, the psychologist scores the results and shares them with you verbally. This may happen immediately after the session or at a later scheduled time.
3. Report – You will also receive a brief written report summarizing the test results and indicating whether your child meets the criteria for giftedness.
If you are looking for a formal gifted identification for school entry, we can help.
