Samana Appalraju

Occupational Therapist | MSc. OT, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Sam Appalraju is an occupational therapist passionate about working with children and families to optimize their health and well-being. She has experience working with a diverse range of children to empower them to engage in their daily activities at home, at school and in the community.

Using a holistic, family-centered approach, she aims to help her clients reach their goals and participate in the activities most meaningful to them. She strives to help children develop their emotion regulation skills, executive functioning skills and manage mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression. Sam supports children with a range of diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Acquired Brain Injuries, learning disabilities, and challenges with sensory processing. She has clinical experience working with children and families seeking support with screen-time management, social skill development, handwriting, feeding and school-based anxiety.


Sam earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto. Before this, she completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Rehabilitation at Western University.  Sam is driven to build her knowledge of neurodiverse affirming practice and is currently completing the Autism Occupational Therapy Coaching (AOTC) Program at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
