Leila Kahnami

Doctoral Practicum Student

Leila Kahnami is a PhD level practicum student at The Red Oak Centre. She is pursuing a doctoral degree at York University in the Clinical Developmental Psychology Program, specializing in neuropsychology. Leila is trilingual with proficiency in English, French, and Farsi. Leila provides therapy services to children and adolescents experiencing emotional challenges. Leila’s practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and relational frameworks. She aims to foster trusting, open, and collaborative relationships with her clients and to adapt services to the client’s individual needs. Leila also works with parents to support their children’s psychological needs when appropriate.

Leila received her Master of Clinical Developmental Psychology from York University. She completed her training in neuropsychological assessment at the Hospital of Sick Children working with children with complex medical needs. Leila has previously worked at the North York General Hospital and private practice settings, providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with various diagnoses including Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, Generalized Anxiety, Intellectual Disability, Depression, Phobias, Conduct Disorder, and Specific Learning Disorder.
