Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov

Teacher and Educational Consultant | OCT, MEd, PhD

Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov supports students and their families as a literacy teacher, executive function coach and educational consultant. She brings with her to Red Oak 25 years of experience as a teacher, consultant, teacher educator and school administrator in both public and private schools in Ontario.

Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov supports children’s literacy development by teaching essential foundational skills. Throughout her career, Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov has taught all grades from Kindergarten through Grade 8, focusing on literacy instruction and inclusive practices to support English Language Learners (ELL) and students with special needs. Brenda is a certified Reading Recovery teacher.

In her role as an educational consultant, Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov supports families to recommend and advocate for educational services within the school system that are appropriate for their child’s needs. Brenda helps parents navigate the special education process in Ontario schools, including identification of exceptionalities, placement and working with the IEP.

Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov also supports kindergarten through Grade 8 teachers by providing one-to-one mentoring in curriculum, instructional strategy and assessment.

Dr. Brenda Stein Dzaldov completed her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Toronto, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Western Ontario. Brenda received her PhD from the University of Toronto in 2012. She is currently a faculty member at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. Brenda has taught courses in Educational Psychology, Child and Adolescent Development, Teaching and Learning in Literacy and Special Education and Mental Health, as well as electives in Early Literacy instruction. She is passionate about connecting theory with practice in education. Brenda is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles,children’s books, professional books and chapters that support student learning, published both locally and internationally. Brenda’s recent book “Ready Set Learn”, is a guide for educators and parents to support the development of executive function skills and strategies essential for academic success.
