Sensory Processing & Self-Regulation: Clinical Strategies for Pediatric Practice

Saturday, July 12, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | The Red Oak Centre

Gain practical insight into the role of sensory systems in self-regulation and learning

Facilitated by Andrea Tsang and Tamar Chemel

Join us for a dynamic, full-day professional development workshop designed for pediatric occupational therapists who want to expand their expertise in sensory processing and self-regulation. This training will enhance your ability to support children navigating sensory, behaviour and emotional challenges in their everyday activities.

We will provide theory and hands-on learning, and participants will explore how sensory differences impact emotional regulation, executive function, behaviour, and participation across settings - from school to home to therapy.

For Occupational Therapists who want to take their clinical practice to the next level. OT students are also welcome to attend!

What You’ll Learn:

✔ A practical framework for understanding sensory processing in clinical contexts

✔ The role of self-regulation in behavioural and emotional development

✔ Evidence-informed approaches

✔ Strategies for teaching and supporting regulation skills in pediatric mental health settings and considerations within interdisciplinary practices

✔ Hands-on training with sensory gym equipment (e.g., suspended swings, therapy balls, weighted items)
