Dr. Dahlia Fisher is a co-founder of the Red Oak Centre, and a registered clinical and health psychologist, specializing in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal. Dr. Fisher’s areas of clinical expertise include helping children and adolescents cope with anxiety, stress, and depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), adolescent issues and adjustment disorders. She provides consultation to parents around behaviour management and best parenting practices. Dr. Fisher also helps children and adolescents cope with the psychological impact of serious health concerns.
Dr. Fisher’s approach to assessment and treatment is grounded in evidence-based methods. She forms a collaborative and trusting relationship with her clients, and works with parents when appropriate. Dr. Fisher’s clinical work is guided by a flexible approach, drawing upon client-centred, solution-focused and strength-based techniques. She uses cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) techniques, incorporating mindfulness and motivational strategies when needed. Dr. Fisher uses a collaborative-problem solving approach (CPS) when working with parent-child relationships.
Dr. Fisher completed her training at Sick Kids Hospital and held subsequent staff positions at Sick Kids Hospital in the Department of Psychology and in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. She worked for six years at The Clinic on Dupont, one of Toronto’s leading private practices, and helped to establish its child psychology department.
